I refrain from telling you all that I have heard today - simply my heart is overwhelmed by the unprecedented possibilities for the Body of Christ to rise up and serve and by the healing hands and heart of Jesus in the aftermath of the Hurricane devastation. I was honored as I was asked to participate in a conference call with Foursquare Leaders from various areas and specifically those in or near the Hurricane devastation. It was moving to hear from Kim Voisin who is our Foursquare Supervisor in the region as well as a pastor and calling from the only working phone he could find. His church is fine and now he and his congregation move to assist in housing and caring for 2,000 people in the immediate area. Our Foursquare churches that were untouched are opening their doors and our Foursquare Camps in the region will be used as shelters to house the homeless. Other pastors and leaders from the region were on the conference call as well as well as denominational leadership. I am proud of our denominational efforts as we assess how best to bring help to the field. Monies have already been sent and practical things like cots, blankets and water is being sent as well. We are looking at three tiers: Immediate Relief :(now and up to three months) which will be prayer, equipment, supplies and ongoing financial support to those already in the field (both Foursquare and other reputable organizations) communication and prayer - Team Support: (which will potentially be allowing qualified teams to enter the region) in not only sending funds but also support teams, construction teams and relief teams (to provide our Foursquare workers with relief due to their long and hard road of service and ministry which they have provided).
Long Term Support: Ongoing prayer and financial support and team mobilization as well as a partnership with other reputable ministries and relief organizations. Our Foursquare leaders are not concerned with whose name is on the truck, or the boxes or the teams - we just want to see assistance and blessing come to those in need.
REMEMBER: This Sunday and the next few weeks we will be receiving financial support to be distributed to Foursquare Relief Fund and the American Red Cross. Following services go to the Red Tent and look for the box marked Hurricane Relief.
Let's give and let's pray.
