Life Makes Sense With God

Psalm 91& 1 Thess. 5

You and I were made by God and until people (us included) understand that, life will never make sense. Psalm 91, in today's bible reading reminds us of who our God really is and how our life works best when we in Him. (verse one) He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (verse two) I will say of the Lord, " He is my strength, my refuge ( or retreat) and my strong place (or fortress) and My God in whom I trust. (verse three) surely He will save you from the fowlers snare. Salvation is what God provides us with. He is all about salvation and each of us finding our significance and destiny in Him. The Psalmist knew this well as He trusted in God's protection and help in the midst of the wars he faced. The key to this passage is (verse 14) "Because he loves me." says the Lord, " I will rescue him; I will protect him for he acknowledges my name." (verse 16) With long life will I satisfy him and show him my SALVATION!." Moving over to the New Testament passage for today we find, I Thess. 5 speaks of the LIGHT and DAY we have been called to live in. Not only is God concerned about our eternity - Salvation, but our current life. His life to us starts NOW and not when we are through with life. We are to:

• Live at peace with each other. (verse 13)

• Live in the Light and not the Dark. (verse 4 & 5)

• Warn the idle and the lazy, encourage the fearful and help the weak and feeble. (verse 14)

• Be patient with others. (verse 14)

• Be joyful and pray and always give thanks. (verse 16, 17 & 18)

This call is how we live or apply the power of salvation to our lives. (verse 9) records that God appointed us to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. (verse 10) He died for us so that no matter what happens to us, alive or asleep we may live together with Him.

He is our destiny and our purpose and we were given His salvation. So, start living right now. Start living the life He called you to live and enjoy Him and His blessings right now. Live your life for God and work out the things you must work out - but live in the light because as you do you will realize that LIFE MAKES SENSE. It makes sense to those who make God the focus of their lives.

PRAYER:
Lord, sometimes we get ahead of you or lag behind. May we stay in step and allow you to be the shelter in our lives and our refuge. May we live out our salvation and enjoy your grace in our hearts as you appoint us to live in you. Help our salvation and your power to change the way we live and treat others as well as how we trust in your and give you glory. In Jesus our Savior's Name, Amen.
